goodreadssynopsis

Expert muffin baker Merry Wynter is finally ready to turn her passion into a career. But when a dead body is found on her property, she’s more worried about cooking up an alibi…

Merry is making a fresh start in small-town Autumn Vale, New York, in the mansion she’s inherited from her late uncle, Melvin. The house is run-down and someone has been digging giant holes on the grounds, but with its restaurant-quality kitchen, the place has potential for her new baking business. She even has her first client—the local retirement home.

Unfortunately, Merry soon finds that quite a few townsfolk didn’t like Uncle Mel, and she has inherited their enmity as well as his home. Local baker Binny Turner and her crazy brother, Tom, blame Melvin for their father’s death, and Tom may be the one vandalizing her land. But when Tom turns up dead in one of the holes in her yard, Merry needs to prove she had nothing to do with his death—or her new muffin-making career may crumble before it starts…”

my review

I really enjoyed this book.

I love baking so I tend to gravitate towards cozy mysteries that have some kind of baking element to it.

For this particular book, I love how we get to see the main character actually arriving into her new house. Most cozy mysteries start with the main character moving to a small town, but they have already arrived by the time the story starts.

This book actually brings us onto the journey which I found added to the appeal of the small town.

I also love the place Merry is living, it sounds creepy but absolutely beautiful.

Like every cozy mystery it has the perfect romance, the perfect amount of mishaps, suspects, plot twists, etc!

I would definitely recommend this book 🙂

goodreadssynopsis

In the second book in the New York Times bestselling mystery series, Veronica Mars is back with a case that will expose the hidden workings of one of Neptune’s most murderous locations.

The Neptune Grand has always been the seaside town’s ritziest hotel, despite the shady dealings and high-profile scandals that seem to follow its elite guests. When a woman claims that she was brutally assaulted in one of its rooms and left for dead by a staff member, the owners know that they have a potential powder keg on their hands. They turn to Veronica to disprove—or prove—the woman’s story.

The case is a complicated mix of hard facts, mysterious occurrences, and uncooperative witnesses. The hotel refuses to turn over its reservation list and the victim won’t divulge who she was meeting that night. Add in the facts that the attack happened months ago, the victim’s memory is fuzzy, and there are holes in the hotel’s surveillance system, and Veronica has a convoluted mess on her hands. As she works to fill in the missing pieces, it becomes clear that someone is lying—but who? And why?”

my review

I really enjoyed this.

First let me start by saying I was and still am a HUGE Veronica Mars fan.

When I found out that a Veronica Mars movie was coming out I was ecstatic. But I remember thinking at the end of the movie, this isn’t enough! When I found out that Rob Thomas was going to start writing books I was beyond ecstatic.

So now onto this book. I loved the plot! It was scandalous like I’ve always found Veronica Mars to be (hey I was a teen when I started watching it!) The book always stays so true to the characters!

Before I explain to you my only “complaint” about this book, let me tell you that I have a love hate thing with Logan Echols. I either hate him or I love him. But there is no denying that him and Veronica make one of the greatest and hottest couples on earth!

I mean lets just admire this for a moment

I realized I can go on and on with the gifs of these two so lets just leave it at that most shocking moment! see the two of them ❤

Well I hated  Logan in this book 😦  I don’t want to give out spoilers, but really Logan!?!?

If you love Veronica Mars, you absolutely MUST MUST read these books!
